Devotional Highlights

thebookcollectorsd

There is still close to three weeks left in the Happy New Year Sale. Make any Devotional or Journal purchase and pick any additional book of your choice in another category at equal or lesser value for free. For those who may be new to devotional reading, it is a great way to draw closer to God and to others relationally with just a short segment of reading, contemplation and oftentimes prayer. Most will have a verse or two of scripture along with a paragraph or two of life application or short story which is read each day. Some devotionals are set up to complete in 30 days, others are to be completed in 90 days and some are done throughout the entire year. Over the next week, I will highlight a couple devotionals or journals each day to hopefully, peak your interest. It is a New Year and, it is never too late to begin anew in our spiritual walk.

Today, I've chosen "My Utmost for His Highest". Having read many devotionals over the years, there are those that are read and passed along to someone else. Many are good, dare I say useful. Then, there are those few that standout as excellent which you may read and reread, recommend to others, keep on your shelf for another time to return to. This is one such devotional most challenging. It is written in a one per day for the full year format. I've read it twice and have highlighted and underlined many pages, shared with others via conversation and pictures in text messages and emails and have given it as a gift. If you would like to be challenged this is the one for you.

This next devotional is one for mothers. Though I am a mother, my children are well beyond rearing and all of the challenges that young mothers experience so, I have not read this one. It is written in a one devotional per day for the full year format. Each day includes a scripture verse followed by a short devotional followed by a short prayer. What is unique about the format is that each page includes an area for journaling and is in a nice hardbound cover.
