The Book Collector’s Daughter was established in memory of my mom, Carol, who was a lover of books. She was an avid reader, collector, and giver of books. Nearly every holiday her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would receive at least one book as a gift. Mom’s friends have similar stories to tell, having also received books from her, relative to their specific needs at the time or their personal interests.  Mom shared her love of reading with folks she met at the store or restaurants, and would at times leave these places, go home and look through her collection (of literally thousands of books) finding just the right one and return to the prior locale with book in hand to spread her kindness to others.

As family, we knew of mom’s love for reading and collecting books, however when mom graduated from this life into eternity, it was a somewhat overwhelming task of sorting and packing her collection.  Books were in the obvious places-book shelves, on tables and chairs, in the attic. They were in the not so obvious places as well…stashed here, there and everywhere. Many hundreds of books were donated in her name to various places in each of her daughter’s communities. It was during this process that several hundred or more were placed aside to do something special with.  So, begins "The Book Collector’s Daughter." A website in mom’s honor, to re-home some of her collection to others who also have a love of books and reading.

Mom was also a believer in Jesus Christ’s gospel of saving grace- freely given to all who believe and place their faith and trust in him.  Mom and I also shared a love for missions work which includes sharing that message with others.  For this reason, proceeds from The Book Collector’s Daughter will be used to bless a missionary, missionary project or similar need somewhere across the globe.  Mom would be pleased!
